336-292-5487We are a 501(c)(3) chapter of the national organization Funeral Consumers Alliance. We aim to provide useful information for funeral planningin particular, inexpensive and alternate options for residents of the North Carolina Piedmont area.
Our mission is to work together as informed consumers for after-death arrangements that embrace our needs, preferences and rights.
Every few years, we conduct major price and compliance surveys of funeral providers in the Piedmont Triad, which assist consumers in shopping for funeral goods and services. In our day-to-day work, we field telephone inquiries from consumers, social workers, the news media and others. We host workshops and other events to educate funeral consumers. We advocate for families in the N.C. General Assembly. Through our Speakers Bureau, we broaden our efforts to educate consumers about their rights and options at lifes end.
Some chapters of Funeral Consumers Alliance negotiate directly with funeral providers to provide discounts or rates for their members only. As a not-for-profit, we focus instead on an advocacy model that serves all funeral consumers in our area, enabling them to make funeral purchasing decisions that potentially can save them thousands, if that is their aim.
Sometimes people have misconceptions about who we are, so it can be helpful to dispel a few false notions:
We are not a funeral home, and we do not arrange funerals for anyone.
We do not have funds to help families pay for funerals.
We do not offer member-only discounts through any area funeral providers.
We are not a business of any sort; neither are we a government entity.
Funeral Consumers Alliance focuses primarily on Forsyth and Guilford Counties and to a lesser extent the counties of Alamance, Davie, Davidson, Randolph, Rockingham, Stokes, Surry and Yadkin. We have reciprocal relationships with FCA affiliates throughout the U.S. We're nonprofit and nonsectarian and welcome funeral consumers without regard to religion, race, age, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity or income level.
Funeral Consumers Alliance of the Piedmont is a local non-profit organization that is part of the national Funeral Consumers Alliance. Based in Greensboro, North Carolina, Funeral Consumers Alliance of the Piedmont helps local consumers understand their funeral rights, provides unbiased advice, and can help with understanding local funeral pricing and landscape.
Many funeral consumers alliances operate with a volunteer board and conduct local price surveys.
