Jack Shannon Sr. passed away on August 7, 2021 at the age of 89. During his battle with serious medical issues in recent years, he showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile.
Jack was born in Chicago in 1932. Jack later served in the Korean War as a Sergeant in the United States Army. While serving in Japan, Jack met the love of his life, Kazuko, and they married in 1955.
Jack Robert is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Kazuko (Abe) and their child Jack Robert II (Rebecca), daughter-in-law Lynn (Backhaus), grandchildren Jamie Runga, Jack (Kristy), Jared (Julie), Melissa Moon, Bryan (Jenny), and great-grandchildren Noah, Aiden, Cayden, Tommy, Kayleigh, Liliana, Lucas, Alex, Jacob, Keelan, Alina, Elouise, Ellie, Camden, Collin, Evelyn.
Jack was a selfless man and an inspiration to all he met. He loved listening to music, putting together puzzles, singing karaoke, watching western movies, and devoted much time to his pool. Jack had so much love for his family and wore a big smile on his face each time he saw his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be dearly missed and his love of family and life will be held forever in our hearts.
Jack will be honored in a Celebration of Life ceremony on Sunday, August 15, 12:00 p.m., VFW, 39 E St Charles Rd, Villa Park, IL 60181. In lieu of flowers, donations appreciated to Gary Sinise Foundation.
